Programming Updates for January

What’s on this month:

  • The Gentle Exercise Class will resume on Friday January 18th at 10:45AM.
  • The Living Well Lunch Club will take place on Monday January 14th at 11:30AM.
  • Healthy Eating on a Budget, an eight week program run by the Diabetes Management team, will start on Thursday January 31st. To register, please call Mel at 416.537.0275 ext. 236.
  • As Parkdale CHC will be closed on Tuesday January 1st, ordered placed for the Good Food Box on Tuesday December 18th will be available for pickup on Tuesday January 8th.
  • Seniors programming will cease for the holidays until the end of  January 2013. Programs will resume in February.

Programming Updates for December

Here’s what’s new for December:

  • Parkdale CHC will be closed at 12PM on Monday December 24th, all day on Tuesday December 25th and Wednesday December 26th, and at 12PM on Monday December 31st.
  • The Gentle Exercise Class will be cancelled throughout the month of December and will resume on Friday January 18th.
  • The Living Well Lunch Club will take place on Monday December 10th at 12:30PM.
  • The Healthy Smiles Ontario Dental Clinic will be closed on Monday December 24th, Tuesday December 25th, Wednesday December 26th, and Monday December 31st.
  • As Parkdale CHC will be closed on Tuesday December 25th and January 1st, ordered placed for the Good Food Box on Tuesday December 18th will be available for pickup on Tuesday January 8th.
  • Seniors programming will cease for the holidays from Wednesday December 12th until the end of  January 2013. Programs will resume in February.
  • There will be no Hungarian and Roma Drop-In on Monday December 24th or Monday December 31st.

Student placement opening for January 2013

We are currently accepting applications for one student to work in our harm reduction program starting in January 2013. Previous placements or employment with a harm reduction program, drop in, or within the supportive housing sector are all assets. Panel Discussion on Trans Health Care

Parkdale Community Health Centre invites you to a Panel Discussion on Trans Health Care. This discussion will be moderated by Rebecca Hammond and will feature Morgan Page, Syrus Marcus Ware, Yegi Dadui and a local Parkdale community member as speakers.

Join us on  Tuesday November 20th, 1-3PM in the  Large Group Room at Parkdale Community Health Centre, 1229 Queen Street W (at Dufferin).

Did you get your flu shot?

During flu season, Parkdale CHC is pleased to offer free flu shots to registered clients and members of the general public six months of age or older. A health card is not required.

If you are a registered client, you can get your flu shot at Parkdale Community Health Centre by:

1) Booking an appointment with your health care provider. Please call 416.537.2455 or visit our second floor reception.
2) Asking your provider for a flu shot during a regular appointment visit.
3) Asking for a flu shot when you come to the drop-in.

If you are not a registered client:

You can get your flu shot at Parkdale Community Health Centre by coming to our weekly flu shot clinic held on Friday mornings from 10AM-12PM. You do not need to be a client of the Health Centre and you do not need to have a health card to get a flu shot.

Flu shots are administered on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Celebrate World Diabetes Day with Parkdale CHC

Join Parkdale CHC as we celebrate World Diabetes Day on Monday November 12th from 9:30AM to 4:00pm. This all day event will feature:

- Blood pressure and blood sugar testing
- Exercises and stretches led by a physiotherapist
- Cooking demo
- Performance by a drumming group
- Performance by a comedian
- Informative booths and hands-on activities

  • Mandarin
  • Tamil
  • French
  • Tigrinya
  • Portuguese
  • Tagaolog
  • Farsi
  • Tibetan

Thanksgiving Weekend Holiday Closure

Parkdale CHC will be closed on Saturday October 6th and Monday October 8th for Thanksgiving.

October Programming Updates

The Living Well Lunch Club will take place on Monday October 22nd from 11:30AM to 2PM. Please note the date change (this group usually takes place on the second Monday of the month).

Steps Across Parkdale will be cancelled on Wednesday October 10th.

The LGBTQ Drop-In runs every Tuesday from 2-4PM.
