Programming Updates for October

Here's what's on in October:

Please be advised that our telephone extensions have changed. Updated numbers are listed below. 

Harm Reduction Programming:

  • The Kit Group takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM in the Board Room. To sign up, please call 416.537.2455, ext 1271, or drop by the Harm Reduction Room on the first floor. 
  • KAPOW takes place Fridays from 10-11:30AM in the Board Room. For more information, please call Victoria at 416.537.2455, ext. 1361.
  • The Harm Reduction Program will be open for regular hours this month.

Population Health Programming:

  • The ID Clinic will take place on Wednesday October 18th.
  • housing worker from West End Housing Help is available on Mondays from 1-4PM. For more information, or to book an appointment, please call 416.537.2455 or speak to the first floor receptionist.
  • We invite you to celebrate Community Health and Wellbeing Week and World Food Day with us! Join us for speakers, music, prices, and free healthy soup! This event takes place on Tuesday October 17th from 12-3PM at 1229 Queen St W. For more information, please call Sandra at 416.537.2455, ext. 238, or Rosa at ext. 1231.

Senior's Programming:

  • The Seniors Wellness Drop-In takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM. The drop-in is cancelled on October 17th.
  • Seniors in Action will take place on Monday October 16th from 1-2:30PM.
  • Community Health and Wellbeing & World Food Day will take place on Tuesday October 17th from 12-3PM. This event is open to all. 
  • On Friday October 20th the Chit Chat Hearing Screening Mobile Clinic will be available to clients (no appointment necessary). They will be located at the corner of Gwynne Ave. and Queen St. 
  • Fit for Life is a pole walking group for participants aged 55 and above. Join us for pole walking, pole strengthening, balance, and stretching. This program takes place on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30AM. Please wear comfortable clothes and proper footwear for indoor and outdoor walking. Group registration is limited to 10 participants.
  • Living Life to the Full is a program for caregivers over the age of 55 and teaches new skills for coping with life's challenges. Use the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy to learn more about mental well-being and how to make small changes to feel happier, less stress, and more in control. This program runs from 10:30AM-12:00PM on Mondays starting September 18th. Space is limited. Registration is required.
  • Seniors in Action will meet on Monday September 18th from 1-3:30PM.
  • Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a program for anyone living with a chronic condition or providing care and support to someone living with long lasting chronic condition. Participants will learn more about positive thinking, goal setting, problem solving, physical activity and healthy eating, decision making skills, and communication skills. Participants will receive TTC tokens, a relaxation CD, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain (book), and $10 grocery card (must attend four or more sessions). The program runs on Thursdays from 9:30AM-12PM from October 5th to November 9th. Call Sandra to pre-register: 416.537.2455, ext. 1238.

Families and Newcomers Programming:

  • Nobody's Perfect is a free parenting program for parents and caregivers with children six years of age and under to talk about child growth and learning, child behaviour, child health and safety, and parenting stress. Childcare and books are included. TTC tokens will be provided (if needed). This group meets on Thursdays from 10AM-12PM from September 14th to November 2nd.
  • Bridging the Gap is an inter-generational knitting club for beginner and experienced knitters to share their knowledge and learn new skills. Come to learn, share, socialize, and meet new friends! This group takes place on Tuesdays from 10AM-12PM.

Health Services:

  • Shirley Hepditch, Case Worker, has drop-in hours on Monday and Friday from 10AM-12PM and Tuesday from 2-4PM. The drop-in will be cancelled on Monday October 23rd and 30th and Tuesday October 31st. 
  • Anonymous HIV testing is offered on Fridays for members of the general public. Please call 416.537.2455,ext. 1222, to book an appointment.
  • The Infant Hearing Program takes place on Fridays from 9AM-4:30PM. For more information, please contact 416.338.8255.
  • The Naturopath Clinic takes places on Tuesdays from 12PM-6PM. To book an appointment, please request the sign-up sheet from the first floor receptionist. There is currently a waiting list of six months. For more information, please contact Sarah Bowler, ND (Supervisor) via email at

Dental Services:

  • The Healthy Smiles Dental Clinic is open from 8AM-4PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and is open from 10AM-6PM on Wednesdays. Note that some Wednesday clinics will take place at 2340 Dundas St West. For more information, please call 416.338.5652.
  • The West End Oral Health Clinic takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-7:30PM. The clinic will be closed on Wednesday October 25th and Thursday October 26th. The clinic will also be open on Saturday October 21st from 11AM-3PM.

Diabetes Programming:

  • The Living Well Lunch Club will take place on Monday October 16th at 12:30PM.
  • Living Life Well with Diabetes is an eight week introductory workshop that teaches participants about blood sugar management, medications, healthy eating on a budget, physical activity, coping with stress, and more. The program runs Thursdays from 1:30-3:30PM from October 5th to November 30th.
  • Join us for a three week Spice Workshop! For thousands of years, herbs and spices have served as currency, medicine and, most importantly, the geographical “flavor print” of meals. Their magic can infuse ordinary ingredients with vibrant flavors. In these sessions we’ll take simple salads, grains, protein and dessert recipes, and use herbs and spices to transform them into a flavourful adventure! We will teach you how to prepare foods that are healthy and full of flavour using simple and delicious herbs and spices. We'll also go on a field trip to buy your own spices and see many spices of the world all found in this one Toronto shop! This group takes place on October 13th, 20th, and 27th from 11AM-2PM.

5Ps Programming:

  • Mom and Baby Circle takes place Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 0-6 months. 
  • Baby & Me takes place Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 27 Roncesvalles, Suite 503. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 6-12 months. 
  • Prenatal Nutrition and Support takes place Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.
  • Fatherhood 101: Drop-In for Dads is a drop-in for dads-to-be and dads with children 0-3 years of age. This group will take place on Wednesday October 11th and 25th from 6pm – 7:45pm at 27 Roncesvalles Ave, Suite 503. Childcare, TTC tokens, and a light meal will be provided.
  • Childcare is available for registered participants with children aged 0-12 years. If you would like to register in any 5Ps programs, please call Stacia at 416.537.8222, ext. 3505.

Women's Connection Programming:

  • The Postpartum Mood Disorders Support Group takes place on Tuesdays from 2-4PM. This group is for mothers who are experiencing symptoms of PPMD who live in the west end of Toronto. Childcare is provided. For self-referral for intake and assessment regarding postpartum mood disorders, please call 416.537.8222.
  • Eploring Your Options: A Career & Training Forum will take place on Saturday October 14th from 9:30AM-3:00PM. Want to know about career and training opportunities and how you can access them? Learn more about career planning, coaching, and job preparation; transitioninig from home/school to work; and confidence building through informative workshops and demonstrations. Other Programming:

  • Building Skills: Peer Learning and Empowerment Program is a men's group that takes place on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30PM from October 31st to November 28th. Learn more about communication skills, boundaries for healthy relationships, stress management, soft skills for the workplace, and more. Closure Notice:

Parkdale CHC will be closed on Saturday October 7th and Monday October 9th for Thanksgiving.
