Programming Updates for July 2018.



 Here's what's on in July 2018:

Harm Reduction Programming:

  • The Kit Group takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM in the Board Room. To sign up, please call 416.537.2455, ext. 1271, or drop by the Harm Reduction Room on the first floor. 
  • KAPOW takes place Fridays from 10-11:30AM in the Board Room. For more information, please call Victoria at 416.537.2455, ext. 1361. 
  • The Harm Reduction Program has extended hours: Monday – Thursday 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. and 1 P.M. – 8 P.M. *Wednesdays from 10 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. and 3 P.M. - 8 P.M.* Friday 10 A.M. – 1 P.M. – 4:40 P.M.
  • The Harm Reduction Program has a new Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention Outreach Program. For more information, please contact the outreach team at 647-825-GEAR (4237).

Population Health Programming:

  • The ID Clinic will take place on Wednesday July 18th from 10AM-12PM
  • housing worker from West End Housing Help is available on Mondays from 1-4PM. For more information, or to book an appointment, please call 416.537.2455 or speak to the first floor receptionist.
  • Parkdale Garden Group meets on Mondays from 2PM-3PM at 1229 Queen Street West. For more information, please contact Victoria at 416.537.2455 ext. 1361 or Rosa ext. 1231.
  • Spotlight on Herbs & Lettuce!  Come and share in our community garden on July 23rd 2018 from 1-4PM.  Hearvest herbs and leteuce from our garden and learn how to use different herbs.  Workshop will include a nutritional talk and snack, TTC tokens provided as needed and will take place at 1229 Queen Street West.  To register, please call Christine Young at 416.537.2455 ext. 1304.

Senior's

  • The Seniors Wellness Drop-In takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM starting January 16th.
  • Seniors Theatre Trainig is a new program starting July 5th from 10AM - 12 PM.
  • Low Impact Aerobic Fitness Program 55+ takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11AM starting on Tuesday January 16th at the Church of Epiphany and St. Mark at 201 Cowan Ave.
  • Pole Walking Program 55+ takes place on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30AM starting January 17th at the Church of Epiphany and St. Mark at 201 Cowan Ave.
  • Seniors Salad Making is a fun program starting April 5th, 2018 and will be on the first Thursday of every month. The program is for seniors 65+ and it will be hosted at Parkdale Queen West CHC – Parkdale Site at 1229 Queen Street West, 1st floor, Large Group Room. Attendance is by registration only.   • Seniors Theatre Training is a new program starting July 5th from 10AM – 12PM until Sept. 20th, 2018. Free acting classes for people 50yrs of age and over and will take place at 1229 Queen Street West. Commit to 12 training sessions, 8 rehearsals and 4 community performances. Families and Newcomers Programming:

  • Get Cooking! Is a free 4 week program starting July 6th from 1-4 p.m. for youth or adults under 65 years old who do not have diabetes but want to learn about healthy eating with fun, hands on activities. Health Services:

  • Shirley Hepditch, Case Worker, has drop-in hours on Monday and Friday from 10AM-12PM and Tuesday from 2-4PM. The drop-in is cancelled on July 6th, 20th and the 25th.
  • Anonymous HIV testing is offered for members of the general public. Please call 416.537.2455, ext.1222, to book an appointment. Please note that appointment availability is limited. 
  • The Infant Hearing Program takes place on Fridays from 9AM-4:30PM. For more information, please contact 416.338.8255.
  • The Naturopath Clinic takes places on Tuesdays from 12PM-6PM. To book an appointment, please request the sign-up sheet from the first floor receptionist. There is currently a waiting list of one year. For more information, please contact Sarah Bowler, ND (Supervisor) via email at parkdale@ccnm.edu.

Dental Services:

  • The West End Oral Health Clinic takes place on Thursdays from 4:30-7:30PM and on Saturdays 11AM-3:30PM. Note: this program is closed for the summer months. Clients in need of emergency dental treatment are still able to call the WEOHC program at 416.53732455 ext. 1415 during the summer months and leave a message.  There is still a dentist who will be available to see low income clients at the Queen West location at 168 Bathurst St. during the summer months.‚Äč

Diabetes Programming:

  • The Living Well Lunch Club usually takes place on the second Monday of the month, but will happen on July 23rd, 2018 at 12:30 pm.
  • The Spice Workshop date is TBA for this month.
  • The Insulin Support Group usually takes place on Thursdays from 1:30PM-3:30PM.  Please note that there are no dates in July 2018 for this program.

5Ps Programming:

  • Fatherhood 101 is Dads and Family Drop-In which takes place on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday evening of every month and will be on July 11th from 6:00pm – 7:45pm.  This program is open to dads-to-be and dads with kids under 3yrs of age. Childcare, TTC tokens and a light meal is provided. For more information or to book for childcare, please email 5ps@pchc.on.ca  or call 416-537-8222 ext. 3505 at 27 Roncesvalles Avenue.
  • Mom and Baby Circle takes place Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 0-6 months. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3505 or email 5ps@pchc.on.ca 
  • Baby & Me takes place Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 27 Roncesvalles, Suite 503. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 6-12 months. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3502 or email 5ps@pchc.on.ca
  • Prenatal Nutrition and Support takes place Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3502 or email 5ps@pchc.on.ca
  • Feeding Tiny Souls: Infant Feeding Initiative is a program for parents with 0-6months old infants who are registered in any 5Ps parenting program. The Friday Food Cupboard and Infant Feeding Circle runs on Friday Mornings from 10am-11:30am and is open to parents with 0-6 month old infants who are registered in a 5Ps program.   • Infant Clothing Exchange program is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. For more information about what is available please call 416-537-8222 ext. 3507 or email 5ps@pchc.on.ca 
  • Childcare is available for registered participants with children aged 0-6 years. If you would like to register in any 5Ps programs, please call 416.537.8222, ext. 3502 or 3505.

Women's Connection Programming:

  • The Postpartum Mood Disorders Support Group takes place on Tuesdays from 2-4PM. This group is for mothers who are experiencing symptoms of PPMD who live in the west end of Toronto. Childcare is provided. For self-referral for intake and assessment regarding postpartum mood disorders, please call 416.537.8222.
