Programming Updates for September 2018

Ongoing/New Programs at PQWCHC - Parkdale Site for September 2018:



  • Postpartum Mood and Disorders group is closed on Sept. 4th and 11th.

Harm Reduction Programming:

  • The Kit Group takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM in the Board Room. To sign up, please call 416.537.2455, ext. 1271, or drop by the Harm Reduction Room on the first floor. 
  • KAPOW takes place Fridays from 10-11:30AM in the Board Room. For more information, please call Victoria at 416.537.2455, ext. 1361.
  • The Harm Reduction Program has extended hours: Monday - Thursday from 10AM - 12PM and 1PM - 8PM,  *Wednesdays from 1:00PM - 8PM* and Fridays 10AM - 12PM and 1PM - 4:40PM.

Population Health Programming:

  • The ID Clinic will take place on Wednesday September 17th from 10AM-12PM.
  • housing worker from West End Housing Help is available on Mondays from 1-4PM. For more information, or to book an appointment, please call 416.537.2455 or speak to the first floor receptionist.
  • Parkdale Garden Group meets on Mondays from 2PM-3PM at 1229 Queen Street West. For more information, please contact Victoria at 416.537.2455 ext. 1361 or Rosa ext. 1231.



  • Seniors Program Calendar September 2018
  • The Seniors Wellness Drop-In takes place on Tuesdays from 1-3PM starting January 16th.
  • Low Impact Aerobic Fitness Program 55+ takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11AM starting on Tuesday January 16th at the Church of Epiphany and St. Mark at 201 Cowan Ave.
  • Pole Walking Program 55+ takes place on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30AM starting January 17th at the Church of Epiphany and St. Mark at 201 Cowan Ave.
  • Seniors Salad Making is a fun program that takes place on the last Monday of the month from 11AM-1PM. The program is for seniors 65+ and it’s hosted at Parkdale Queen West CHC – Parkdale Site at 1229 Queen Street West, 1st floor, Large Group Room. Attendance is by registration only. Families and Newcomers Programming:

  • Newcomer Women Art Program will start on September 17th to 20th from 5:30PM-7:30PM at PQWCHC – Parkdale Site. To register and for more information please call Rosa at 416.537.2455, ext. 1231
  • Nobody’s Perfect will start on September 27th to November 15th from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. This is a free parenting program for parents and caregivers with children six years of age and under to talk about child growth and learning, child behavior, child health and safety, and parenting stress. Childcare, snacks and books are included. TTC tokens will be provided (if needed). To register and for more information please call Rosa at 416.537.2455, ext. 1231
  • Teens Get Cooking is a free 4-week cooking program for youth 13-19 years old. Program starts September 27th to October 18th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at PQWCHC – Parkdale Site. Teens get to learn about healthy eating with fun, hands on activities and cook healthy delicious recipes together. A light meal and TTC fare are included. Health Services:

  • Shirley Hepditch, Case Worker, has drop-in hours on Monday and Friday from 10AM-12PM and Tuesday from 2-4PM. The drop-in is cancelled on September 4rd, 7th, 17th, 18th, and 24st.
  • Anonymous HIV testing is offered for members of the general public. Please call 416.537.2455, ext.1222, to book an appointment. Please note that appointment availability is limited. 
  • The Infant Hearing Program takes place on Fridays from 9AM-4:30PM. For more information, please contact 416.338.8255.
  • The Naturopath Clinic takes places on Tuesdays from 12PM-6PM. To book an appointment, please request the sign-up sheet from the first floor receptionist. There is currently a waiting list of one year. For more information, please contact Sarah Bowler, ND (Supervisor) via email at


Dental Services:

  • The West End Oral Health Clinic takes place on Thursdays from 4:30-7:30PM and on Saturdays 11AM-3:30PM. Note: this program is closed for the summer months. Clients in need of emergency dental treatment are still able to call the WEOHC program at 416.53732455 ext. 1415 during the summer months and leave a message.  There is still a dentist who will be available to see low income clients at the Queen West location at 168 Bathurst St. during the summer months.


Diabetes Programming:

  • Living Life Well with Diabetes is an 8 week program that teaches participants general information about diabetes management, including how to manage blood sugars, understanding medications and complications, healthy eating, exercise, and more. This program will be on Thursdays from September 6th-October 25, 2018 from 1:30 PM-3:30PM.
  • The Living Well Lunch Club usually takes place on the second Monday of the month. There is no date in September for this program.
  • The Insulin Support Group usually takes place on Thursdays from 1:30PM-3:30PM.  Please note that there are no dates in September 2018 for this program.

5Ps Programming:

  • Fatherhood 101 is Dads and Family Drop-In takes place on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday evening of every month and is open to dads-to-be and dads with kids under 3yrs of age. The drop-In will be on September 12th and 26th.
  • Mom and Baby Circle takes place Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 0-6 months. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3505 or email 
  • Baby & Me takes place Mondays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 27 Roncesvalles, Suite 503. This program is for parents and caregivers of babies 6-12 months. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3502 or email
  • Prenatal Nutrition and Support takes place Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Please call for registration info at 416-537-8222 ext. 3502 or email
  • Feeding Tiny Souls: Infant Feeding Initiative is a program for parents with 0-6months old infants who are registered in any 5Ps parenting program. The Friday Food Cupboard and Infant Feeding Circle runs on Friday Mornings from 10am-11:30am and is open to parents with 0-6 month old infants who are registered in a 5Ps program. Women's Connection Programming:

  • Note: This group is cancelled on Sept. 4th and 11th.
  • The Postpartum Mood Disorders Support Group takes place on Tuesdays from 2-4PM. This group is for mothers who are experiencing symptoms of PPMD who live in the west end of Toronto. Childcare is provided. For self-referral for intake and assessment regarding postpartum mood disorders, please call 416.537.8222.
