Free Income Tax Clinics

Parkdale CHC will be hosting free volunteer-run income tax clinics during March and April to assist individuals prepare their 2011 returns. Efile is available.

To qualify, your total income from 2011 must be less than:

  • $25,000 – if you are single
  • $30,000 – if you are single with 1 child ($2,000 extra for each child under 18 years)
  • $35,000 – if you are a couple ($2,000 extra for each child under 18 years)

You must bring …

  • Income slips: wages, social assistance, ODSP, pension, E.I., etc.
  • Proof of rent and landlord’s name
  • Expense receipts: donations, tuition, medical, child-care, TTC passes, etc.
  • Bring your own interpreter if needed

Tax clinics will be held on Tuesdays from 10AM to 3PM at Parkdale Community Health Centre starting Tuesday March 6th and running until the end of April. An appointment is required.

During February and March, we are conducting our annual Client Satisfaction Survey. If you have been a client of Parkdale CHC in the last year, please take a few minutes to fill out a survey and tell us how we are doing. You do not have to write your name on the survey and your responses will be anonymous. The results from this survey will be used to help improve our programs and services.

Parkdale Community Crisis Response and Recovery Network (PCCRN)

The PCCRN is committed to supporting the Parkdale neighborhood in and around times of crisis that have an immediate impact on the Parkdale community in regards to safety, security, health and wellbeing.  The PCCRN wants your input in creating a safer community environment and developing community leaders in the process.

Bollywood nights begins this Monday February 6th

Join us for this eight week film series showcasing classic and current Tamil and Hindi films, starting this Monday February 6th at 6PM in the Large Group Room on the first floor. Dinner will be provided.

This week we’ll be screening Don, a 2006 action thriller starring Sharukh Khan.

New programming in February: Parkdale Cooking Club

Would you like to:

  • Learn to cook more low-cost, healthy and simple meals?
  • Know more about food and nutrition?
  • Have fun and meet new people?

Look no further!

Join us for this brand new six week program, led by a Registered Dietitian, where we will cook a variety of healthy meals and share recipes, cooking tips and healthy eating ideas in a relaxed and supportive environment. There is no cost to participate!

This group will be capped to a maximum of fifteen participants. Childcare is available.

WHEN: Thursday evenings from 5-7:30PM from February 16th to March 22nd

Are you LGBTQ identified? We want to hear from you!

This Friday January 27th, Parkdale CHC will be holding a focus group to explore and discuss the needs of LGBTQ identified individuals living in Parkdale. If you are LGBTQ identified, we invite you to attend to give us your suggestions and join in on the conversation.

Lunch will be provided and you will receive an honorarium for attending.

Free dental services!

The West End Oral Health Clinic (WEOHC), offered at Parkdale Community Health Centre, provides dental services free of charge for those in need. Dental hygiene services are provided by George Brown College Students.

Services provided include:

  • General Check Ups
  • Radiographs (x-rays)
  • Fillings
  • Cleanings (scaling and polishing)
  • Extractions
  • Oral Self Care Instruction
  • Referrals

Eligibility:

  • Age 18 – 64
  • No extended health/dental insurance
  • ODSP (cleanings only – if required above your allowable coverage)
  • OW (cleanings only)

Hours of Operation:

  • Wednesday & Thursday evenings: 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm (Cleanings only)
  • Saturdays (once a month): 11:00 am to 3:00 pm (Cleaning & Restorative services)
