Food Security and Nutrition

‘Food Security’ is defined as a condition when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food, produced in an environmentally sustainable way, to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy and active life.

PCHC is committed to the following six principles which we view as fundamental to healthy eating and promotion of food security.  PCHC will use these principles to guide decision-making for the selection and distribution of foods and beverages served at programs, events, meetings and functions. The six principles are:

  • Practice safe food handling
  • Reduce the risk of allergic reactions to food
  • Recognize cultural diversity in our community
  • Be environmentally responsible
  • Be fiscally accountable
